Our Wine Country Guide to Paso Robles

It’s no secret, we like our wine; whether we’re tasting it, pairing cheese with it, or traveling to places near and far to try the best of it. We’ve shared our guide to the PNW’s best vineyards, our favorites in Napa Valley, and now are sharing our wine country guide to Paso Robles, CA. If you haven’t been (or heard of) Paso Robles, get ready to add it to your travel list. The town is small and quaint and the selection of wine is anything but. Before you visit, read on for our favorite wineries, tasting rooms, and where to stay when you go!

Where to Stay:

Allegretto Vineyard Resort: The European inspired property looks like a scene straight from Tuscany thanks to Mediterranean architecture, olive trees, and beautiful courtyards. Not only is the resort beautiful, but it also houses it’s own tasting room (more on that below), a divine restaurant featuring live music, and prime location. You can easily navigate to hundreds of surrounding wineries for a tasting, or to town for plenty of dining options… that is, if you ever want to leave the grounds!

Where to Taste:

Tin City: Block off at least a few hours to tour all around tin city’s wineries, breweries, and even a cider mill! The fun and walkable area gets it’s namesake from Tin walled tasting rooms, making it a hip and casual spot to try dozens of beers & wines. Don’t miss Lefondusac in the back corner-it’s one of our favorites!

DAOU: This winery is set on one of the highest points in Paso Robles, and thus, as you may suspect, known for their spectacular view. They offer plenty of seating lounges and a garden walk to enjoy it as you sip on their full bodied red wines.

Allegretto Vineyard Resort: During your stay at Allegretto, don’t miss their quaint tasting room right off the lobby. It features woodsy wine country decor and an array of delicious wines, much of which are grown right on the resort property.

Where to Dine:

Andrea’s on Pine: Right off of the town square’s park lies this charming bakery and cafe, perfect for breakfast or lunch. The bread pudding style french toast, whose flavor changes daily, is a must order!

The Hatch: As one of the newer, and now most popular, restaurants on 13th street, Hatch has made quite the name for itself thanks to craft cocktails, tapas style plates, and a dang good burger. Word to the wise: make a reservation!

Fish Gaucho: Head here for a Mezcal margarita and some of the best Mexican seafood you’ll ever eat. Think ceviche, ahi nachos, and fresh oysters. Yum.
