Retro Friendsgiving Feast in Palm Springs

Have you ever heard of a retro Friendsgiving?! Our bet is no, because well, we hadn’t either. And just between us we would have written off the idea in the brainstorming stage. We are proud to say that our friends at Keep it Colorful proved us so wrong – by dreaming up, dare we say, the most unique Friendsgiving theme we have seen in our time. Think classy bohemian meets retro vibes and you can kind-of picture it. We suggest you take a look for yourself, we know you wont regret it!

The talented team at Keep it Colorful, share a behind the scenes look at this gorgeous shoot,

It’s that time of year when the holidays are near! While some are currently putting up Christmas decor and writing letters to Santa, we are over here pausing for a moment to feel some fall vibes while taking on turkey. Friendsgiving is a gathering that honors old traditions while giving you the opportunity to create new ones with the closest members of your tribe. Even though the holidays may look a tad different this year, you can still bring some fun to your outdoor table even if you are six feet apart.

When it came time to design this Friendsgiving event I pulled in inspiration from my past Palm Springs visit. I immediately called Olivia Marshall and was so excited to hear she’d be able to bring the party to life through her lens. I knew I wanted a retro, modern, dessert vibe and this tablescape at Johnston’s Salt Box incorporated it all, cue the terra-cotta plates, cacti and bougevvilla!

Let’s talk details! Floating florals by Graceful Garland co added a “wow” factor, and mini vibrant cacti pots by Mint Studio gave the perfect pop of color and also made the cutest party favors I ever did see. Colorful mid-century/modern name tags and stir sticks created by Atomic Kraftworks couldn’t have been more perfect for our event. Also, did I mention mini weaves!?! All things mini are my thing these days and these weaves by Krystyna Wood stole my heart!

This shoot was made even sweeter with the creative cake design by Jodi Giusti. She never disappoints and her attention to detail was just what this retro shoot needed! Of course we didn’t forget all traditions and mini apple pies were also a hit gracing our table.

Cheers to setting the tone for the upcoming holidays and season. At the and of the day, the only thing that matters is that you have good times with those you hold near and dear. May you have full hearts and glasses!

Is anyone else kinda obsessed with this gorgeous cake?! Yeah, we are too!
