Currently living in Dubai after trading her home country of Holland for NYC, Linda Dekkers’ home is undoubtedly full of worldly influence and character. We’re excited to tour the chic modern space that boasts Scandinavian style like no other and get some insight from the Live Loud Girl on her design and style inspiration on our lifestyle blog today.
We love following along with your blog! Tell us a little bit about how Live Loud Girl got started..
Moving around the globe pushed my boundaries. It gave me inspiration to develop, connect and create. It gave me the courage to follow my heart. And now I am one of those lucky ones that can say that my passion is my full time job. New York gave me the inspiration and Dubai the opportunity to start Live Loud Girl. The concept Live Loud Girl started with just a notebook and a name. My first blog post was at the beginning of 2014 when I started to share my interior inspiration.
What does your interior design process look like?
With styling, I love to start with a good base, literally a white canvas if possible. White makes me calm. My style could be described as Scandinavia meets Manhattan with a touch of my Dutch roots. I love to convert spaces into homes with a definite dose of funky vibes and originality where children have room to play and adults would love to join them (and vice versa).
Where do you look for inspiration?
Styling inspiration can come from anywhere but for me traveling is definitely one of them! There are so many inspirational places with other colors, styles, materials, structures and vibes. I will always bring some treasures home with me to incorporate this in my house.
A lot of my inspiration also comes from something a lot closer by, my phone. I am addicted to Instagram and all the beautiful photography I come across on my screen. This, together with Pinterest and other (interior) blogs is a huge source of inspiration. I can’t leave out the old-school magazines though. Flipping through fashion and interior magazines is one of my ways to relax. A lot of interior trends come from fashion so it is always good to stay up to date.
