If your family is anything like mine (1 baby, 2 toddlers, toys everywhere) a playroom is absolutely essential. Having a space where I can store all of their play items and where they can have their fun and games without boundaries, gives me a little extra peace of mind. And as much as I want this room to be a space for them to let loose, I also want it to be cute! So, we set out on a gender-neutral playroom makeover with BEHR® that both the little ones and I would love.
To start, , I picked a neutral blue-ish gray color for the walls. I went with the BEHR PREMIUM PLUS® Interior Paint & Primer and chose the 2018 Color Trends color Quiet Time T18-19 – how perfect is that?! I wanted something neutral to balance out all the color that comes with kids toys and decor but to still have some color so the walls didn’t feel too bare. Quiet Time is the perfect balance. And it’s calming, which this mama loves (see my office in a similar shade here!). Additionally, I picked BEHR PREMIUM PLUS® Interior Paint & Primer specifically because its durability can stand up to life with kids! Plus, if I ever want to transition this space into a room for another purpose, it will easily go well with any theme
Ok, to really show you what we were working with pre-makeover, here are the before photos. Promise you won’t judge 😉
Not great, agreed? But then again, they make the ‘after’ photos that much better! Let us take you on a tour of our brand new playroom:
The new paint color provided the greatest transformation. It brightened up the walls immensely and helped the whole room feel more fresh and airy. Thank you BEHR!!
To go along with this new light & airy wall color, we chose sheer white curtains and a fluffy white rug. These help maximize the light flooding into the room and also add texture to the space. Plus, they pair well with my son’s giant white teddy bear ;). And goodness knows, our pup, Marlo, loves to snuggle on that rug!
Next, we mixed the white and soft gray by way of storage baskets and toys both old and new! Most toys aren’t as aesthetically pleasing as a mom may like, we get it, so baskets and bins really come in handy to keep things not only hidden but organized as well. From blankets to blocks to books, there is now a place for everything in this room. While we stored plenty of toys, we also put a few favorites on display. The shelves now show off some fun books and unicorns for my daughter in addition to planes and trucks for my sons. When you walk into the room, you immediately know it’s for kids thanks to these cute items on the shelves. Plus, you can always easily intermix new books and decor with old as your kids grow and their interests change.
Now, this room is more than ready to be played in and enjoyed by the whole family!
