From the photographer and mother Roxanne with Roxanne McClure Photography,

Tis the time of year, when ghosts and goblins come near! My kids are 2 and a 4 and still a little on the fence about Halloween and the spookies. This year I wanted to create something a little more playful than frightful. The inspiration for this shoot started with a rainbow plate from Daydream Society. While incorporating spooky splashes here and there and throwing in some rainbows I came up with the idea of “Chasing RainBOOs”. I found that rainbow pastels paired well with blacks and moody grays and it quickly became a spooky soiree where all little ones could come play!

DIY florals were created by spray painting leaves and babies breath in moody grays and blacks. These paired with pastels florals made the centerpieces playful with a spooky twist. Balloons graced the entire wall creating the perfect backdrop for our party table while fringe and a backdrop by Katherine Hallberg added color to our dessert table. As a mom of two, I’ve been to many kiddo parties. This time I wanted to make a trick or taste station for the parents. Poisoned Palomas was a perfect way for adults to celebrate the day.

For a sweet ending to a spooky soiree, Whisk Cakes created a buttercream cake that was half shag, half Halloween and 100% spooky and sweet! DIY Ice-cream cones were dipped in orange chocolate, and topped with cotton candy and spiders to create “cobweb cones”. And we can’t forget the red, orange, yellow, green BOO, purple grazing board! Savory and sweet, it all turned out to be quite a treat! If only every year we could gather and chase rainBOOS!
