What does your daily life look like in your position?
Are you sure you don’t mean, “when do you sleep?” Only kidding. Let’s see, well I wake up at 2am everyday, get out of bed and turn on the coffee, get back into bed and start answering emails. By 3am I am checking Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Style.com, clients’ websites and Google Analytics. I then meditate for 20 minutes before getting out of bed and getting ready for work. I wake my son for school and head straight to the office, usually arriving between 5:30am and 6:15am. From this point on, the day is endless! We have 51 employees on premises, and I literally go from fittings, to design meetings, to production meetings, to PR meetings, to client meetings, and on and on and on. I am lucky if I get time to sit down and have five minutes to breathe. However, someone always manages to catch me during that moment too! I leave work at 6:30, get home in time to cook dinner for my son and am in bed by 9pm.
What is the best business advice you have received?
Don’t take things to heart. I am continually learning how to let things go, as I am so passionate about my business. It is difficult not to take things personally when you give so much of yourself to your business everyday.
How do you balance being a successful business woman and having a personal life?
“Be Happy & Be Grateful” things in life are always changing and businesses come and go but your happiness is what will sustain you. I try to live my life by this moto.
If you could pass along one piece of advice you’ve learned over the years, what would it be?
Learn to speak as many languages as possible, study abroad, take advantage of every opportunity, learn how to network at a very young age. The overall message would be to think internationally, that is where the world is heading and you don’t want to be left behind.
