PR Tips 101: It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be

“It’s not how good you are, it’s how good you want to be.” – Paul Arden

As we enter this new year with a fresh, clean slate I think it’s important we remember that we’re in control of who we are, what we do and what we can reach! Sometimes thinking about and planning for the new year can be a daunting task sparking anticipation and dread. However, it’s important to keep in mind that more often than not the true misery lies in anticipation and not in the final result!

We can all have pessimistic tendencies and there are times we convince ourselves the worst scenario is the reality. How often is that truly the case? We get ourselves all worked up, stressed and scared about something that potentially will never happen. But with the new year comes new goals and pursuits, and it’s up to us to capitalize on those! There’s hope in new brides, new clients and new opportunities. Time spent worrying about what may be is wasted time, but time spent actively chasing goals is always beneficial. So much is lost when our efforts (both mental and physical) are misguided! Negative energy and thoughts drastically decreases our productivity and, if done frequently, decreases our quality of life.

We can’t control and micromanage life -bad things are always going to happen, but your reaction has the power to make the situation even worse. We should all look to 2011 optimistically expecting nothing but the best for ourselves and our businesses! We can’t rest and rely on what was achieved in 2010, what matters going forward is how much we want to achieve in 2011. Only we have to power to make it the best year yet, so let’s do just that!
